| ARDT Browsers for Windows
|

Overview: The Virginia ARDT program requires the use of a secure delivery browser. Two are provided for Windows. The ARDT Browser is a small 264K download that does not require administration rights to use and install. The ARDT Text to Speech Browser is a 5.4MB download that does require administration rights to install, and which adds the text to speech option. The ARDT Text to Speech Browser includes the smaller ARDT Browser in the install. Instructions for installing the browsers are below: |

To Download:
- Click the “Download ARDT Browser” button.
- You will be prompted with a Security Warning asking “Do you want to run or save this file?”. Click “Save”.
- When prompted with the “Save As” dialog, choose “Desktop” and click “Save”. If you are prompted again, click “Close”.
- You may launch browser from the Desktop. When you launch the browser, you may be prompted with the Security Warning: “Are you sure you want to run this software?”. Uncheck the box: “Always ask before opening this file” and click “Run”.

To Download:
- Click the “Download ARDT Text to Speech Browser” button.
- You will be prompted with a Security Warning asking “Do you want to run or save this file?”. Click “Save”.
- When prompted with the “Save As” dialog, choose “Desktop” and click “Save”. If you are prompted again, click “Close”.
- Double click the “ARDT Text to Speech Setup.exe” file. Run through the Install Wizard to install the browser on your computer. A link will be automatically created on the desktop.

Administrator Notes: Administrator rights are not needed to install the Windows browser. The ARDT Browser is an executable file that does not need to be preinstalled. This file can be run from a network drive, allowing it to be used from multiple PC’s with pre-installing the software.

| ARDT Browser for Macs |
|
Overview: The Virginia ARDT program requires the use of a secure delivery browser. The ARDT Browser is a 780K zipped download that does not require administration rights to use and install. This software is the only software that needs to be installed for the ARDT program, and includes support for text to speech.

To Download:
- Click the "Download Secure Browser" button.
- Your web browser will download the "ARDTBrowser_2.1.0.6.zip" file to the default download location (usually the Desktop or the Downloads folder).
- If your computer does not automatically unzip the file, double-click the downloaded file to decompress the browser.
- You may launch the ARDT Browser from the Desktop.

Security Notice: In Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard), when you launch the browser, you may be prompted with the Security Warning: "ARDT Browser" is an application which was downloaded from the Internet. Are you sure you want to open it?". Click "Open".

Text-to-Speech: The Mac ARDT Browser supports text to speech. You do not need to install additional software.

Administrator Notes: Administrator rights are not needed to install the Mac browser. If you are installing the ARDT Browser for all users, drag "ARDT Browser" to the "Applications" folder. If the user logged in is not an administrator, you will need to authenticate using an administrator username and password. You may need to get this information from your Macintosh computer administrator. Create an alias for the application on the desktop for all users on each computer being used for test delivery.
